Research Has Shown that the Brain Thins as We Age

The brain's thinning starts around age 40, then begins to accelerate at age 60. Brain thinning becomes more prominent as one ages into advanced years and is considered a completely "normal" aspect of aging.

Brain thinning may be especially prominent in certain regions of the frontal lobe, which processes memory, impulse control, problem-solving, social interaction, and execution of tasks. Thinning can also be noticeable in specific regions of the temporal lobe and parietal lobe. The temporal lobe is responsible for regulating stress and is also involved in many aspects of speech, such as understanding words, speaking, reading and writing. The parietal lobe is responsible for perception, context and sensory processing.

The parts of the brain that are susceptible to age-related thinning contain important nerves that carry vital information from the brain to the body, and back again. However, as the brain thins, there are less and less of these important nerve connections. This means there is less and less communication between systems.

As the brain ages and thins, potential "signs" include:

·         Memory struggles

·         Difficulties with movement and coordination

·         Poor decision-making or judgement

·         Sudden mood changes

·         A loss of empathy towards others

·         Challenges with communication (producing or understanding speech)

·         Trouble recalling specific words or vocabulary

·         Difficulty learning new information

Cereset recently introduced its new Anti-Aging Design (AAD) to help support the areas of the brain that are most susceptible to thinning as the brain ages. The Anti-Aging Design "exercises" these areas of the brain as one would exercise a weakened or atrophied limb.

By supporting these vulnerable regions of the brain that normally see the greatest impact of thinning, clients may notice various positive results, such as:

·         improved memory/ recall

·         better focus

·         heightened clarity

·         better decision making

·         improved speech and communication

·         more controlled coordination and movement
