Celebrate Earth-Day, Everyday
During
these stressful times, it is easy to get caught up worrying about the unknown.
Instead, let’s focus on what we do know. With inflation and food shortages
expected, this is the time to re-evaluate where you spend your hard-earned money.
Farmers
markets and gardening centers continue to be my happy “go-to” places. Local
markets offer festive settings to purchase the freshest produce—and a fun place
to meet like-minded friends. In addition, the markets boost local economies and
reduce the carbon footprint than much grocery-store items. I like to follow the
“100-mile Diet” guidelines which encourage seasonal fare. Luckily, as Central Floridians,
it is easy to eat a vast array of food grown close to home.
How
do you consume herbs in your life? The interview with Ann Armbrecht on Ethical
Botanicals (p16) has changed my relationship with herbal teas—only homegrown or
organic will do. Want to learn more about Herbalism? The Florida School of
Holistic Living is offering an intensive weekend course (May 21-22, 2022). Register early!
Finally,
Spring has sprung! Let’s get outside and enjoy the fresh air. Our print calendar offers many options—especially check out two Earth Day Festivals on
Saturdays 4/23/22 and 4/30/22. Be sure to frequent our many farmers markets, too.
Remember to celebrate Earth-Day everyday with love,
