Natural Awakenings Central Florida / Orlando

Celebrating 21 Years of Publishing in Central Florida!

Each June in conjunction with Father’s Day, we celebrate men. As complicated as it may be at times to live with them, we women know they are a necessary ingredient in our lives—whether they be friends, husbands, fathers, grandfathers or mentors. Whatever the male role in our lives, we need to encourage them to take care of themselves. So often they give too little thought to their own health care. Our Integrative Health For Men article (pp15-17) reports alarming statistics not to be ignored.

Depression diagnoses are on the rise, especially among our youth. Many causes of depression can be cured naturally! Why are our adolescents prescribed pink/lavender/green pharmaceuticals with endless expiration dates? (See pp 24-25.) Whenever I feel gloomy, I remember sound advice from my Father: “Get outside and visit a Garden Center.” No doubt—strolling through rows of flowers has always triggered positive energy for me….all my six senses thrive. Give it a try!

The South Seminole Farm and Nursery in Casselberry covers 11 acres. Every Saturday (9-10am) they offer free gardening classes, too. (See p 8 for their June topics.) Pollinating plants and Edible gardening are my passions. Even with small indoor spaces, culinary herbs flourish in pots if given enough sunlight, water & love.

This June edition marks the completion of our 21st year publishing in Central Florida! We will continue to make a healthy difference in the lives of all who enjoy this magazine. Thank you all for your input, loyalty and support. We distribute throughout 4 counties: Orange, Seminole, Lake and Osceola. If your business, community center and/or church would like to receive each monthly issue, give us a call 407-628-0705, and we will gladly add you to our route.

Happy Summertime—and as always:

Feel Good • Live Simply • Laugh More
