Natural Awakenings Central Florida / Orlando

Central Florida/Greater Orlando Edition: February 2020

LOVE is in the air this month, and at Natural Awakenings our editorial team has been focused on matters of the heart—the one that keeps us alive and well. In “Sacred Vessels: The Lifeblood of Heart Health,” writer Julie Peterson examines the crucial role of the vascular system and how simple, natural lifestyle choices can prevent or remediate damage that can result in a heart attack, stroke, vision loss and cognitive decline.

Red is a lovely color, but not on your skin! If you or someone you know has a skin condition (such as eczema), be sure to check out Dr. Cannizzaro’s article on page 18. You will learn why Salt Therapy is a clinically-proven, safe remedy which can help you avoid steroids.

In case you’re wondering, regenerative therapy isn’t just for humans as Julie Peterson explains in “Pain Relief for Pets: Prolotherapy Gives Joints New Life". Veterinarians are treating cats, dogs and even horses with this non-surgical form of self-healing.

Our February issue also includes an eclectic stew, featuring April Thompson’s “A Feast for All Seasons: Embracing the Rainbow Year Round.” Citrus is in season—boost your immune system! We lucky Central Floridians have easy access to many wholesome varieties. Check out the recipes on page 22.

And, of course, we top it all off with a large dose of love featuring Scarlett Lewis’s inspiring essay on “Choosing Love: How to Cope With Fearful Times.” No doubt—we can all benefit from her wise words.

Finally, as I just finished editing the February calendar (pp 24-27), I am wishing there were three of me, especially during the weekend of Feb 28-Mar 1. The PowWow in Mount Dora, The FL Herbal Conference in Lake Wales, University Day for Gardeners in Casselberry are just a few places I want to be.

Let’s Share the Love,
